Our dental health services research, led by Gerardo Maupome, PhD, focuses on understanding access, delivery, costs, and outcomes in oral health care across U.S. populations. Nearly 40 million U.S. residents lack regular access to dental care, contributing to disparities in oral health and overall well-being.
We leverage large-scale administrative claims data to quantify real-world patterns and shifts in dental care utilization. Unlike surveys or provider recollection studies, our work uses actual care claims that were billed and paid, allowing precise measurement of service delivery and trends over time.
